Family Background -

Born in a musical family, grand daughter of Late Bhagavatheeswara Bhagavathar, a Mysore Asthana Vidwan. Her paternal Uncles, Late B. Doraiswamy was a mridangom Staff artiste of All India Radio, Trivandrum and Sri. B. Nellaiyappan is a retired Violin Professor of R.L.V. college of music, Thrippunithura. Married to Mr. Palakkad K. L. Sreeram, a musician, playback singer.

Details of Training in the field -

Started learning under Smt. Ananthalakshmi Venkataraman, Trivandrum. Received Central Govt Scholarship, from Dept. of Culture and continued advanced musical training under Sangita Kalanidhi Late . T. M. Thiagarajan, Chennai. And also under Sangita Acharya Sri. P. S. Narayanaswamy.

Prizes and awards –

Received several prizes in many competitions. Some important prizes – Won First prize in the University Youth festival in the year 1991. Received first prize in the All India Radio competion in the year 1994. And directly upgraded as an “A” grade artist from B Grade in the year 1997. Received Best performer award and Ramanuja Iyengar Scholarship from The Music Academy, Chennai in the year 1997

Some important concerts –

Performing for the last 20 years in Music Sabhas, Institutions etc in Bombay, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kerala. Performing in Music Seasons in Chennai. Have given many thematic concerts such as Muthaiyya Bhagavathar day, Neelakanta sivan day in Academy, Chennai, Deekshitar fest, Swati fest, Syamasastry fest, and also given Lecture demonstrations for music organisations and institutions. Conducted seminars on Kovur Pancharatnam, Panchalinga sthala kritis, Navagraha kritis and Kamalamba Navavaranam.

Performed in Malaysia, and also performed in the Cleveland Thyagaraja festival, U S A last year.

She herself is a vaggeyakara, have composed many varnas, swarajathis, Kritis, padam, Javali, and tillanas. Her compositions have been recorded and preserved in “Sampradaya” an archeological library of Music, Chennai in the year 1993.

Have performed invited audience concerts in connection with the Swati festival for Trivandrum (2000) AIR, Kannur (2002) Calicut(2007), as well as Thrichur A I R (2008).
